Nature’s Equivalent
1995
fired clay
installation with elements of various dimensions up to 7cm in diameter
I compressed clay in one or both hands to the extent that all the surface of the material in my hands was touching my skin. This way all the clay together resisted my pressure and the result were dynamic and precise forms with all surfaces defined.
I fired the objects and brought them to the shore of the Sava river. There I dropped them into the water and along the shore amongst the stones on a stretch of about 500 meters.
The installation was enjoyed by my friends and was then left in situ as a part of the environment moving along with the water and stones. The items were left to be carried further by the current of the water and were smoothed away by harder stones during this process.”
